By starting small and thinking long-term, we're building a multi-racial, lively and creative political organization that can, over time, break the stranglehold that corporate money and corporate media have over our political process.
During the last few days we have focused on launching our idea in cyberspace, because we feel that this will give our party the opportunity to reach our students abroad, who in turn will start to influence local elections through their outspokeness, intelligence and vision. Our students are our future and they must be part of any changes that would affect their homeland.
For example: It could never be right for St. Maarteners to vote in a referandum to make major constitutional changes without allowing it's students abroad to take part in such an important referandum.
By doing this, our political leaders have done an injustice to the next generation who are supposed to be taking over this island. This the PPA consider a mortal sin.
PPA will use their clout to push for policies and programs that support the economy, education, sports, tourism, small business ownership, affordable housing and proper living wages, and campaign finance reform.
Big money will no longer be permitted to dominate local politics in St. Maarten ... more
